Ainsley Holding the Moon | A Personal Project Created Together

Growing up with a mom who is a photographer has its perks. Ainsley is very creative so she likes to keep me on my toes by designing styled photoshoot ideas for us to try out. Sometimes when I feel like I’m in a creative rut I find it helpful to photograph something that has nothing to do with my “work.” Thankfully Ainsley is always up for a photo session. Ainsley Holding the Moon is just one of the ideas we came up with together. In the past we’ve done mermaids, all sorts of light painting and many of fun sessions.

For this particular image everything you see here is real and was photographed at the same time, except for the ladder. In the real image she is on a very sturdy aluminum ladder. Aluminum just didn’t fit the vibe, so I created a wood ladder in photoshop. Just don’t zoom in too close please. ;)

The final image seen above is a composite of four different images, put together to make one.

Image #1: The backdrop: grass, trees, and Ainsley’s body. The original ladder was also in this image, but it was ultimately photoshopped out.

Image #2: Ainsley’s head. I needed her to be looking up a little higher than she was in the previous image. I took her head from this image and added it to the body on image #1.

Image #3: The sky and the moon. I did brighten the moon up a little bit as I felt it was a little too dark for the image.

Image #4: The ladder which was created in photoshop.

If you have any ideas for us to try please feel free to leave ideas in the comments! We are always up for a challenge!
